Our Pastors

Our pastors at Shoreline are committed to glorifying God with their whole lives by enjoying Him through worship, community, and going overboard in showing God's love to those around them. A quick tip: if you ever want to get on their good side, take them to S&W. They love that place.

See below for a quick bio, an even quicker picture, and the blog for each staff member:

Mehl Family

Scott and his wife Lara have been married for six years and have two children: their son, Harper, is a toddler with a faux hawk (ask him, he’ll tell you) and their daughter, Addison, is one year old.  Scott and Lara always dreamed of living on acres of land near a forest, but they feel pretty content sharing that acre of land with 200 other people and living on a street with four trees is pretty much the same thing. Scott and Lara’s passion for the lost and for God’s work in the local church brought them to West LA, and that has allowed the city to truly become their earthly home.

Scott’s vision for God’s church here is to see a family of people living out Philippians 2:1-18 in response to the truth of the gospel.

At Shoreline, Scott serves as an elder, teaches, and pours most of his time into developing and equipping leaders, as well as discipleship and counseling.

Brian moved from Danville, California to attend UCLA.  He met Scott in seminary, and, after building a friendship at various IHOP’s in southern California, they planted Shoreline Church in 2005.  Shoreline’s first service was his favorite memory until he married the love of his life, Chrissie, in March of 2009.  Now he splits his time as a pastor, student, and very grateful husband.

At Shoreline, Brian serves as an elder and teaches on Sunday mornings.
